Short Term Investment options

Many a times, we leave money to sleep in the savings bank account. The probable reason would be, we are so busy. But this laziness to make decisions does cost us. We earn hardly 3.5% in a bank savings bank account. Even if we make a short term deposit for say one month or so, the return is a paltry 4.5%.

As usual, mutual funds does come to the rescue of every investor. There is a variety of mutual fund called Fixed maturity plan, which would invest in short term deposits of banks and companies. And they earn you far higher returns. For instance for a 35 days investment, the returns in immediate past has been as high as 6.3%. That is almost 50% more than what you earn in a bank.

The only problem with such FMP's is that they are open for a very short period : as short as one day. Hence, Investors need to keep their eyes and ears open and grab opportunities.
