If you live each day as if it was your last, someday you’ll most certainly be right - STEVE JOBS

Covid is back with a bang. As we scramble to get our vaccine shots and somehow survive, it makes everyone accept the uncertainity is the essense of life. Steve Jobs Stanford University on June 12, 2005 makes lots of sense. Hence posting part of his speech to connect the dots:

"When I was 17, I read a quote that went something like: “If you live each day as if it was your last, someday you’ll most certainly be right.” It made an impression on me, and since then, for the past 33 years, I have looked in the mirror every morning and asked myself: “If today were the last day of my life, would I want to do what I am about to do today?” 

Remembering that I’ll be dead soon is the most important tool I’ve ever encountered to help me make the big choices in life. Because almost everything — all external expectations, all pride, all fear of embarrassment or failure — these things just fall away in the face of death, leaving only what is truly important. Remembering that you are going to die is the best way I know to avoid the trap of thinking you have something to lose. You are already naked. There is no reason not to follow your heart.

Death was a useful but purely intellectual concept: No one wants to die. Even people who want to go to heaven don’t want to die to get there. And yet death is the destination we all share. No one has ever escaped it. And that is as it should be, because Death is very likely the single best invention of Life. It is Life’s change agent. It clears out the old to make way for the new. Right now the new is you, but someday not too long from now, you will gradually become the old and be cleared away. 

Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary."

19 ways to live a stress free life

Following are a few tips that are circulated in email. The second point in particular seemed very relevant. Just for the benefit of our investors, we are publishing all the 19 points.

1) Take a 10-30 minute walk every day. And while you walk, smile. It is the ultimate anti-depressant.

2) Sit in silence for at least 10 minutes each day.

3) When you wake up in the morning complete the following statement, "My purpose is to ______ today."

4) Live with the 3 E's -- Energy, Enthusiasm and Empathy.

5) Plan to read at least one book every month. Once you plan, make a sincere attempt to execute it. Dont give up till you read it.

6) Make time to practice meditation or prayer. They provide us with daily fuel and a mental center to focus on in our busy lives.

7) Spend more time with people over the age of 70 and under the age of 6.

8) Dream more while you are awake.

9) Try to eat more foods that grow on trees and plants and eat less food that is manufactured in plants.

10) Drink green tea and plenty of water.

11) Try to make at least three people smile each day.

12) Clear clutter from your house, your car, your desk and let new and flowing energy into your life .

13) Don't waste your precious energy on gossip, OR issues of the past, negative thoughts or things you cannot control. Instead invest your energy in the positive aspects of the moment.

14) Realize that life is a school and you are here to learn. Problems are simply part of the curriculum that appear and fade away like algebra class, but the lessons you learn will last a lifetime.

15) Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a college kid .

16) Smile and laugh more. It will keep the negative blues away.

17) Life may not be fair, but it's still good.

18) Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.

19) Don't take yourself too seriously .
