Know Your Client (KYC) for Mutual Funds:

KYC is mandatory for all Individual Investors w.e.f.1st January, 2011 for all investments transactions irrespective of amount of investment.

Earlier KYC was required only for investments of Rs.50000 and a above. But from the New Year in 2011, it is compultosyr for all investors, irrespective of your investment value.

To apply for KYC you need to sign in the KYC form and provided details like a photograph of yours, Address Proof and Identity Proof. As on date, it doesnot cost any money to process your KYC.

Whether you invest immediately or not, it is better to get KYC done. But for those clients who are reluctant to get their KYC processed, following is a list of transactions where KYC would be required/not required. For instance, if you wish to just redeem your investment, then KYC is not required. If you wish to stay invested, again KYC is not required.

We hope the following list is of some help.
